About me

As you can guess, this is the obligatory “Who the hell is this guy, anyway?” page.

To that end, a quick bio.

I grew up in the small town(s) of Morley, Hersey, and Reed City, Michigan, though I was young enough to have no memories of the Morley house. I grew up as children do, the youngest of my mother’s three children (two older sisters), and my father’s only biological child. I graduated from Reed City High School in 1999, and began college at Ferris State University in the neighboring city of Big Rapids, as many of my peers did.

Originally, the plan was to go there for a couple of years and then transfer to a different school (ideally Michigan State), but then I ended up meeting a young woman, falling deeply in love with her, and we both ended up graduating from Ferris in 2005.

After a life full of adventure that spanned living with my mom for a while after we graduated (which now seems to be the new norm of things, but not-so-much in 2006), to picking up and moving to Baltimore, Maryland on a spur. Four years worth of adventures found us both employed in the textbook publishing industry and me with a side job as a bouncer at a bar (a bucket-list item for me).

We eventually moved back to Michigan after I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and now live in the greater Greenville area.

A thrilling story, I know.

Currently, my life revolves around being a 35+ stay-at-home-dad with two (one in elementary, the other soon to be) beautiful girls, three ever-demanding cats (Wicket the (grudging) Ewok, Ozymandias (my boyo), and Phoenix (the shy recluse)), a wife who ever-remains the love of my life, a love of reading and writing, and three disabling diseases (multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia).

On top of this, I’m still trying to become a published author and have started a side business of developmental and substantive editing (Book and Owl Editing).

That’s the basics of my life.
